"in 1833, a teenage girl met a machine which she came to regard "as a friend." it was a futuristic device which semed to have dropped into her world at least a century before her time."

"it's marketing... which may be my most hated thing on earth. like, fascism is up there, but marketing is right behind you know?"

welcome to jadelukken (she/her/they)
i am currently a cs undergrad at the university of minnesota duluth, and i have done things in the past. many things. all the things. i like computer graphics, various forms of music, and other sterotypical things transfems like.

faq (or questions i wish people asked me)
-
why are you named jade?
homestuck.
-
why are you a cs student?
i watched serial expriements lain sophomore year of high school, and didn't look back. before that i was looking to lingusitics, which i still find interesting, but cs has taken over as my main interest.
-
why are you a weeaboo for australia?
because of this. and because afl is cool.
-
what do you want to do with your one life?
go to grad school. try and probably fail to get a teaching position somewhere. do the most boring research imaginable. move to melbourne and try and become an australian citizen. learn the electric guitar and make weird music with it. buy a million pedals for said guitar. fuck around on the computer. this is a unordered list.

i programmed my high school robotics team's robot for the 2023/2024 season. i was on the team the year prior but i just programmed the arm on the 22/23 robot, the rest being done by our programming
senior for that year issac patton (who i believe is currently at tc). in 22/23 we won our duluth regional (there's two at the same time) and came second at grand forks. we went to houston for worlds, which is a terrible feeling city
but it was a good experience overall which i now have a bunch of war stories about. the next year (in which i was in charge of programming and teaching the incomming freshman how to code in java) we came 3rd at the duluth regional and 1st at our home regional in st cloud. i would like to state for my one humbleness that the st cloud win was a total fluke, we sucked the whole time, got picked by the number one ranked team as their last pick, got carried through playoffs, and then won the finals because the other alliance got a red card. i didn't end up going to houston with the rest of the team because we had no time to fundraise to actually go to it, and it was around a 1000 per person, which i decided would be better spent on college stuff.
the code was done and dusted anyway, and my work with the team was pretty much done. frc robotics is not a program i would recommend to an aspring transsexual programmer due to the extreme stress, full time hours after school days, and the eventual feeling you're hanging around for no reason, but it did help me harden my understanding of java and how it works,
which helped make java my favorite language to program in. i am aware of how controversial that statement is. java isn't even my first language (python) but it was my first love.

selene
i made a game for my cs 1 course which i was extremely happy with at the time. the assignment was groups of people trying to make their own zork clone. for this, i contributed 100% of the code, made a tkinter image editor(not good) and some custom tkinter minigames for it. you check it out here.

i made a getting over it style rage game and put it on steam. it did not sell well. i am still very proud of it. give me 4 dollars and you can see how bad it is.

jadetracer
for a cs2 assignment we had to take some code for a raytracer and refactor it into a oop format. i'm adding a little bit of functionality to that assignment and calling it jadetracer. the github repo is not currently public, but watch this space.
